Robert Hudson :: Texas Tech University, HACC

Teacher, Writer, Programmer, Roller Derby Referee

Rob Hudson is involved in nearly every aspect of writing — from software development to teaching to composing — in genres like first-year composition (English 101), business and technical communication, marketing, and web content.

As a programmer, he creates higher-education web applications  — in ASP.NET and SQL Server — for the English department at Texas Tech; this site serves 3,000 students per semester.

He also teaches English and Business Writing, both online and offline, for schools like Harrisburg Area Community College (Lancaster) and Towson University (Maryland).

Rob applies his writing to both print and online publications. He’s written pieces about programming for Topcoder (www.topcoder.com), an online competitive software development community. He’s done niche work about papercraft and origami.

He also writes about local topics. His most recent article in Fine Living Lancaster (www.finelivinglancaster.com) features the Candy Factory, his go-to coworking space.  Other local subjects include the skaters of the Dutchland Rollers (www.dutchlandrollers.com) , Lancaster’s premiere women’s roller derby team.

Outside of work, Rob is a referee and website administrator for the derby team. He also enjoys teaching and learning origami; he’s traveled as far as Bogota, Colombia to share the art of Japanese paperfolding.
